Description
In addition to inspiring images, Helen provides detailed scientific information about the importance of soil, water and insects. She features Northwest plants, birds, butterflies and spiders (and her puppy). She also explains and illustrates the wonder of seeds and their dispersal. Throughout the book, Helen shares her love of nature and concern for the environment.
Working with this coloring book is an excellent way of introducing children to both art and nature. Drawing and connecting with nature can have a profound effect on one’s life. Recent studies show that creating art improves brain function and relieves stress. Artists have known this forever, but you don’t have to be a great artist in order to benefit from these exercises. Caution is advised, however. Creating art is addictive.
